Mirror Design is a one man business run by myself, Harold Kemp. I've been making furniture and mirrors from reclaimed pine for well over twenty years. Mirrors have always been one of my favourite items of furniture, so naturally over the years I've built up a good collection of them.
So what's so different about my mirrors?
The most obvious is the colour. Reclaimed pine has a much mellower look than new pine. Much of it is several decades old, which gives the timber that antique look. Add a little woodworm, a few nail holes and some judicious distressing and we're well on the way to replicating a genuine antique- and many would call it that.
Then there's the final finish: slightly stained to the customer's requirements and hand waxed.
And then you could take into consideration the fact that many of my mirrors are designer made and you won't find them anywhere else, but that detail may not count for much. What does count, of course, is the thought that the mirror could look great on your wall.
